A systems accelerator, not a service delivery organization
The African Community Health Accelerator (ACHA) is a Pan-African systems platform dedicated to accelerating the institutionalization, integration, and sustainability of community health systems as a core pillar of Primary Health Care (PHC) across Africa.
Despite growing recognition of the critical role of community health in achieving Universal Health Coverage, health security, and sustainable development, community health systems across many countries remain fragmented, under-institutionalized, and heavily reliant on project-based and donor-driven approaches. This has resulted in duplication of efforts, parallel implementation structures, inefficiencies in resource utilization, and limited long-term sustainability.
Rather than serving as a service delivery organization, ACHA functions as a systems accelerator that helps countries transition from fragmented community health programming to integrated, government-led, and sustainably financed community health systems fully embedded within national Primary Health Care architectures.
